Notes from our workshop — what we see on Apple iPhone

Real observations from our certified technicians — the things you only learn after thousands of repairs on the same model. No marketing spin, just what we actually deal with every day.

The "non-genuine part" warning in iOS 17+

After any non-Apple-authorised screen swap, iOS 17 and later show a notification in Settings → General. It doesn't affect performance, brightness or touch — it's Apple's policy, not a fault. Our genuine-grade OLED panels still pair correctly with True Tone, auto-brightness and Night Shift. We always show the customer where the warning lives so it's never a surprise after pickup.

Face ID after a screen replacement

Face ID lives in the TrueDepth array at the top of the screen — not on the panel itself. When we swap an iPhone X through 15 Pro Max display, we transfer the original sensor cable across to the new screen. Done correctly Face ID keeps working. Done with the wrong tools (or by skipping the transfer) and you'll see 'Face ID not active' permanently. It's the #1 thing we re-repair for customers who tried elsewhere.

Battery health on arrival vs. expectations

An iPhone 11 or 12 brought to us for a 'slow phone' fix has a battery health around 78-82% on average. Replacement brings it back to 100% and the maximum performance cap iOS imposes lifts immediately. We use cells that report capacity accurately to Settings → Battery — cheap aftermarket cells often show '?' or trigger 'service' warnings even when the cell is healthy.

iPhone 15 USB-C ports wear faster than expected

We've replaced more USB-C ports on iPhone 15 models in the last six months than Lightning ports across all iPhone 12-14s combined. The data pins on the early 15 batches are softer than the power pins. If your iPhone 15 charges but won't transfer to a Mac, that's the port — not the cable. Replacement takes us about 45 minutes and reuses your existing battery.

Before you book — Find My and the Activation Lock

We can repair a phone that's signed in to your Apple ID — no problem. But if the device is locked to a previous owner's account (common with marketplace buys) we can't bypass it. The right fix is to sign in with the original owner's iCloud password and disable Find My. We check this on the bench in 60 seconds before quoting so nothing wastes your time.

Our promise

Why Choose iRepair Experts

How a Brisbane repair should feel — diagnosed, quoted and fixed by humans who actually care about your device.

12-Month Warranty — IMEI on file

Every part we fit and every minute of labour is covered for 12 full months. Screen ghosts, battery swells, port fails — anything we touched, we fix free at any of our three Brisbane stores. No receipts to dig up; your IMEI is on file.

Bench-trained specialists

Our senior techs trained at OEM-authorised repair centres before opening here. Every iPhone, MacBook and Galaxy on the bench is worked on by someone who's already done that exact repair hundreds of times — not a teenager's first week.

Same-day, in & out

Phone screens and batteries: 45–90 minutes, done while you wait. MacBook displays, batteries and keyboards: same-day on the common SKUs. Board-level rescues and rare-part jobs: usually next-day, sometimes overnight — always quoted upfront.

Three part tiers — your call

Every quote lists three options side-by-side: Incell LCD (budget), Soft OLED (most popular) and Genuine-OEM (factory spec). You see the price for each and pick what fits — no bait-and-switch to a cheaper part after you've said yes.

How we repair your iPhone

Same routine for every device that lands on the bench — diagnose, quote, fix, retest. No shortcuts.

Free 20-point bench diagnostic

Free on-the-spot diagnostic that checks battery health, hidden water indicators, True Tone status, every sensor and a touch-grid stress test. You see the actual fault on screen before any quote — never an estimate.

Written quote, signed off

A written quote with the part tier you picked, labour estimate and same-day vs next-day timeline. You sign before we open the device. Whatever you saw at the start is what you pay at pickup.

Calibrated-bench repair

Repair runs on calibrated gear: torque-controlled drivers (so screws never strip), ESD-safe mat, hot-plate at 65 °C for clean adhesive release. Each component is tested as it goes back in — not just at the end.

Full QA before handover

Final QA covers Face ID, True Tone, multi-touch, all 4 mics, both speakers, every camera lens, every sensor, wireless charging and a quick charge-discharge cycle. Photos at start and end go on your repair record.

Privacy-first

Your data, treated with respect

Your phone holds your life. We treat it like we would want our own treated — locked drawer, signed-out accounts, no nosy looks.

Device stays locked — always

We never ask for your passcode, PIN or Face ID. Every repair is done with the device locked. If a sign-in is required to verify a feature, we hand it back to you to do it.

Locked cabinet, key access only

Devices left overnight go straight into a CCTV-covered, key-locked cabinet at the back of the workshop. Staff never take customer devices home.

Chain-of-custody log on every job

We timestamp who received it, who worked on it and who handed it back. The log includes photos at intake and after each part swap — you can ask to see it any time.

No cloud, no backups, no snooping

We don't open Photos, Messages, banking apps, or sign into iCloud / Google. Repair Wi-Fi is isolated from anything personal. Data recovery is a separate, signed service — never automatic.
